Decluttering helps clear the mind

Hi and Welcome!
Created Carries Realworld in January 2016, having previous blogged using blogspot and vistaprint platform, and now I share this site with my Wordpress sites.
I love sharing my World as a working mum, housewife and writer.
It truly has been an amazing experience and may it continue on.

Hi all! Yes so i have begun my clear up for this season, and I have added the start of my Autumn clear up in my Weekly Vlog video from when my husband and I took our son to the seaside. Well we tempted to, we just didn't actually go onto the seaside due to torrential rain.  Click on the link below to watch now:

The first place I started was my make up station. I did a video showing my new Make Up station, a while back (see link below):

The initial set up worked for that time, but I found that in the end it was becoming to chaotic and there was some make up that I hadn't used for a while or not at all. So I decided to sort this out first.

Tip1# If something isn't working any more it is time to change, so you have more of an productive space.

For my birthday I bought two new toiletry bags, you can see in the photo to your left, at the top shelf of the corner units. They are from Cath Kidston 2 for £18.00, and the Make up Caddy is from Lakelands at £16.99.

Tip2# Best time to purchase new storage items or in this case toiletry bags, are when they are in sale or if you have any birthday money why not treat yourself like I did to a new Make Caddy. Sometimes it is worth spending money on something you know you are going to use, rather than buy something that you like in that moment but then gets forgotten about, in a week or months time.

One of the toiletry bags you see in this picture to your left holds my lipsticks and the other my make up remover pads and wipes, and evening face creams.

The little white mirror that you can see on the second shelf is from Poundland, then I have some Nivea cream, nail varnish remover and a Avon Make Up Pallet.

Tip#3 Always put the items you use all the time at the top or in the middle in eye view depending on the type of shelving unit you have, the next items you use a lot on the second shelf and items you use but not everyday at the bottom, but are still there so they are insight and in mind.

On the bottom shelf  of my corner unit you see in the photo is a toiletry bag, from Amazon and this stores all my travel toiletries. I love travel size toiletries and so whenever I see a deal on them or someones buys me some I will store and keep it for when I travel. Then I have sea through bag. This was originally packaging for something else we bought, which I can not remember what for now. However any time I see a box or a bag that can be reused as storage, I will then do that.

Tip#4 Do your bit for the environment and recycle.

The brown see through bag holds my spare make up remover wipes, feminine wipes, spare toothbrushes and toothpaste. Originally it had all my hair remover products in, which I decided to throw away and reuse the bag for it's current purpose.

I purged a lot of make up as you will see in my new Weekly Vlog video. My son's room was also given a change around, and his cot was altered into a toddler bed. See picture below of my son, in his bed as it is now.

We moved the cot to the other side of the room, because the chest of draws in his bedroom where it initially was, it blocked part of the radiator so we thought it may be blocking the heat from coming through, as his room can get quite cold in the evenings and part of the day.

I have also begun re-organising my food cupboard and a box of items I put aside to go through for my Autumn clear up.

Tip#5 I would recommend if you are doing an Autumn Clear up, then is to organise bits to go through. Then you can do it bit by bit, so you don't lose enthusiasm, or become overwhelmed.

I will be posting more on my Autumn clear up soon.

Many thanks for reading,

Carrie X
