Hi everyone, I hope you all had a good weekend. I think we can safely say that Winter is now here, after having quite mild weather, with lots of rain included. We had some snow overnight as all the pavements were covered yesterday morning travelling to work.

No I didn't walk, my lovely mum took me whilst picking my son up to spend the day with him and then picked me up after work too.

What would we do without our mums?

Above is a picture of my new slippers I got for Christmas 2015 from my mum, and boy do I need then now, especially if your home is like ours with wooden floors. I was worried last night because Henry fell a sleep in his day clothes last night and so slept in his long sleeve vest and t-shirt and nappy. I did try to put his sleep suit on but he kicked up such a fuss that I just laid him back down in his cot and made sure he was covered over with a nice warm blanket and he slept soundly all night.

We did have the heating on through out the night, and my heart really goes out to those who are alone in this cold weather, or don't have heating, as it can get so cold especially at the early hours.

It is hard to balance the utility bills when it gets colder as this is when our gas and electric will start to go up. What we do is just try to subsidize throughout the day by turning off any lights that don't need to be on during the day off, and make sure we all have an extra layer on, and have plenty of hot drinks in our tummy's to help warm us up.

If you know of someone who is alone this winter then why not pop around, as sometimes like my Nan was when she was quite elderly and couldn't got out anymore, was just pleased to see a familiar face and have some company.

With the icy roads and pavements it is essential to take extra care when out on the streets as it will be quite slippery. Not the weather for court shoes or stilettos, but I bet there are those who still try.

No for me it is my boots all the time during this time of the year, unless I am running. I know you shouldn't do it but when it gets bitterly cold where your ears are stinging if no hood or hat, and fingers due to lack of gloves, it will be tights under trousers or leggings. Yes, the fashion police may arrest me for that, but all I will say "It is what I do so deal with it",

I AM NOT FEELING COLD BECAUSE OF FASHION

If ladies get away with wearing tights with sandals I sure can get away with tights under trousers or leggings.

So lets wrap up for the winter and enjoy when we can, being cozy in front of the TV and a cuppa.

"A mad mad rush"

That is an understatement with the weekend just gone. I couldn't believe that both days I got up late to be out of the house in 10 to 15 minutes.

That is never usually me.
BUT...

DO I REGRET IT?

NO, I don't in fact I was so grateful that I actually got some decent sleep this weekend, which is not usually the case, knowing that my son can wake up at any minute and my alarm is set for 5:50am each morning, I am usually shattered.

This weekend though when my alarm went off at 6am on Saturday I thought "No I am not going in feeling like death door, NO"
I wanted to get some decent sleep so I forgot my alarm and slept until 7:15am.
Yes that was pushing it to get ready and leave for work, but I still got there on time and still did my full day of work.

So even though it meant not having my usual cup of tea in the morning before I go to work or putting on that much make up I felt like for once I had a good nights sleep.
I know there was a risk of me being late, but it taught me that,

I knew it would only take an hour to walk, and so even though I left at 7:35am both mornings I still got there by half past, I still got enough time to stamp in, set up for the day and have a cup of tea before briefing.

It also made me think.....why do I get up so early?

Even if I got up at 6:30am I know i will still be in work by 8:45am (our start time) and if I wanted to be out of the house to catch the bus to work then I know I could get out in time to catch that too.

I don't think I could risk getting up at 7:15am or 7;25am, each time I had to go to work, at the weekend, because I know at some point I would be late, but every now and again wouldn't hurt.

I function better when I sleep better, and when I don't sleep I do suffer with lack of concentration and by 12noon I am almost fulling asleep at my desk.

I do like to walk to work as it does help to wake me up, but with little energy from lack of sleep it can be really be difficult to even get out of bed.

Quick tips for allowing yourself extra time in bed before you go to work:

> Prepare the night before
* Getting your lunch done and store in the fridge putting a sign on the door or side of your kettle to remember to pick it up and packing any snacks in your bag you want to take pre-work day.
* Have everything packed in your bags apart from your lunch the day before
* Bath or shower the night before and hair wash
* Have all your clothes out ready close by so you can throw them on, along with your make up, set out in order you put it on. Really helps save time.
* Put your socks in your shoes ready
* Put your footwear with your socks and bags near to the front door.

So now my weekend work is done it is time to begin another week of starting my work at home

HAVE A GOOD ONE PEEPS.

I will be back blogging on Friday.

Many thanks for reading,

Mondays: My usual day of catching up on chores, TV that I missed due to working at the weekend, and spending some mother and son time.
Today though as it was my husband's last day before he returns to work tomorrow, I went for my first long distance run of the year, then met him and my son to go for a coffee, to get some bits and to take Henry to the park.
I am gonna get my guest room/home office completed, and get my bookcase that I am converting into a craft storage unit completed at the start of this year. I am getting bored with the same look and thinking of "What can be done", I am now taking action and thinking "This is going to get done now".
Also I want to change my display table in our living room and the corner units aswell.

If you do have tables or units/dashboard, in your home, and you are fed up of looking at the same old dreary space then why not revamp it and make it a display of photos, candles and other things that mean a lot to you,. so when you look over to this area it gives you peace instead of anxiety and makes you feel overwhelmed and nothing much has changed.

"You don't need it to be Christmas to be able to decorate your home, as there are more days to celebrate than just once a year"

Sometimes we can feel the Christmas blues as we go into a new year, so to get out of that, you can still decorate your home, but instead of doing it just once a year, why not do this all year round.

OK I know what you are thinking.

"THAT COSTS MONEY"
'
Well actually it doesn't have too, look around you and you be surprised with what you can do. Why not go through your photos and create a collage, use your birthday cards you keep into a piece of art and have a display of them, that will help you look at the space that once was boring after Christmas into a showcase.

Picture

I use an old draw organizer that I have used to display items, books I wish to read, jewelry I want to remember to wear and got as they are special pieces that mean a lot to me, that were gifts. I store my current perfumes I am using and items that I have not used yet, but is out on display so I use them and don't forget about them. (see above this is one display I have created on my cube unit in my bedroom).

I do believe in the catchphrase
"OUT OF MIND OUT OF SIGHT"

"A home should not be done up like a showroom for other people, but given the personal touch so you feel happy and content in your own space"

Picture
Why not have a theme for each display if you wish to, I have done this to store shower gels, roll on's and body sprays on my cube unit, so I know to use them and they are not just standing there looking like clutter but interesting and I will make sure I use them first before I need to buy anymore.

You can do the same with bags, books as I have done, jewelry, craft stock, paper, stationary supplies, it is endless what you can do.

So lets be happy in the new year, and make everyday a day to display decor, so everyday can feel like Christmas, it doesn't have to end just because it is the new year.
