So I was trying to get my first blog for the week done yesterday, to post on my Monday Check in page, as I haven't posted on this page for a couple of weeks. Due to having issues with technology again, that didn't happen. To say I have been unlucky the last 7 days would be an understatement. My camera stand broke, no idea why. I smashed one of my favourite mugs, due to not concentrating and being half a sleep, plus I have been ill. What I thought was Hayfever turned into a blasted cold, and saw throat, etc. However life doesn't come to a stand still just because I am ill. You have to carry on. If you read my Tuesday Blog and Friday's you would see that I am budgeting my money more. It was £10 a week, but working out how much I need to pay for Henry's items such as nappies, and baby wipes, food, then bread and milk and when we have salad with our dinner, we buy that when we are going to use it, and have it for our dinner that day, due to making sure it all is used up and doesn't go to waste. £10 a week was impossible, but worked it out, that it is £10 a week on personal items for myself, as that is where I have been splurging my money and do need to take control of. £9 a week budget on Henry's bit and pieces, as worked out that is how much a week we sometimes spend, on baby wipes and nappies. Or we will do a monthly shop, on food which we will include in our grocery shop and on nappies and wipes. Food a week as it is a small amount £2 a week This is just my budget on these items a week. I am lucky that there is two of us that I don't have What it has made me do is not treat myself all the time, but prioritise. That is the key to all things when it comes to looking after the home, being a parent and money. It has made a huge difference. I do get those urges of "I want to buy something" but I know I will regret that when I do, and has made me decide on what is important. So my total budget a week is £20 a week. The one thing I have been naughty for is paying off a balance on a Store Card "Potential Debtors" I call them, as you do have to be careful with these. Once I pay of a balance I have then thought "Oh great I can buy something else now using the card".
Once I have done that, I am like NO. All I am doing is sending myself round in circles. So it is all about prioritising, remembering what is important and when you buy yourself that coffee it is still a treat. I now go buy Need Items are a essential so do need to pay money for these to make sure for example, my son has plenty of nappies, otherwise there will be puddles and mess every where, more than usual. Want items are a treat, they won't make me panic because I don't have these items. Not the end of the word if I don't have them, but if I have enough left of my budget then I will treat myself to these items. Not buy them all at once. So prioritising is the key and remembering what is important. Many thanks for reading, Carrie X
